HWC trips 2006

This contains details of all the longer trips we have planned for the club this year. These trips include a stay away from home, normally for a long weekend. Transport to these is typically arranged by sharing private cars rather than using a minibus, as this gives more flexibility to come and go.

You must be a member of the club to come on one of these trips. Please contact one of the committee if you want to join, and we will be glad to tell you more about the club.

Hazel Fix Borrowdale YHA, Lake District This is our 'traditional' winter walking trip to the Lakes. While the paths are generally good, the time of year means that snow is likely and it can be extremely cold - correct equipment is needed for high winter walks! But if you want to get out your ice axe and crampons, this is your chance.
Spring 2006

23-25 June
Hazel Fix
Exford, Devon
A short weekend trip to the north coast of Devon.  This gives options of walking on Exmoor or along the coast.  Should be a lovely time of year.
20-23 July 2006
Alasdair Paton
Eskdale, Lake District
A summer visit to a quiet corner of the Lake District.  Lots of high walking direct from the door.  Long days and good views guaranteed (well, long days anyway)  This will be a Thursday-Monday trip to allow for extended travel time getting there and back.
21-25 September 2006
Complete, see report
David Haigh
Crianlarich, Scotland
The annual trip north of the border.  If you want rugged walking this is your chance.  Conditions can be great or extremely miserable - we have had both in previous years.
20-22 October 2006
Complete, but no report
Hazel Fix
Brecon, S. Wales
About the closest place to Hampshire where you can do proper (high) hill-walking.
16-20 November
Alasdair Paton
Windermere, Lake District
Last chance to stock up on rain and hills before Christmas (oh and Christmas shopping in Ambleside too!)
end February 2007
Alasdair Paton
Patterdale, Lake District
The winter trip to the Lakes - crampons at the ready!  There will be lower level walks too.
ALSO we are planning to run a navigation course along with this trip.

If you want to go on one of the above walks, contact the organiser for details.
