HWC local walks 2011

This page contains details of all the local walks we have planned for this year. These are typically arranged at a weekend or in the evening after work, and are normally not far from Hursley.  Lengths and distances vary widely, from short strolls of only 2-3 miles to extended hikes of 20+ miles, but the height gained during a day is normally less than on our 'away' trips to places like the Lakes, Wales and Scotland.

Our evening walks are the most regular of these.  Typically they are about 3-5 miles across local countryside, starting and finishing at a pub, with dinner afterwards.  They normally start at 7pm but there are occasional exceptions - see below for details.  If you are on the club distribution list, you will get notified about all of these.  Please contact the organiser before turning up, to check it's still happening and also to make arrangements for dinner!

Anybody, whether a club member or not, is welcome to come along on these walks, but please do contact the organiser or club secretary first.

To keep things tidy I have split these into two sections:

Evening walks

As well as all-day walks throughout the year, we have a series of evening walks through the summer, from early June to late August. The general format is a 1.5-2 hour walk (3-5 miles) with an evening meal afterwards in a local pub. These are still being arranged; if you have suggestions for good walks within 20 miles of Hursley please let the secretary know and we'll try to include them. If the weather turns nasty, there is a chance these may be cancelled; see the "go/no-go decision" information for details.
